Prof. Krishna Kumar was born in 1946 in Lucknow where he went to various schools and graduated from Lucknow university. Thereafter, he went to University of Roorkee from where he graduated in electrical engineering in1969. He had a go with cost accounting having done intermediate in cost accounting from ICWA in 1974. He become Fellow in Management (Ph.D equivalent) in 1979 from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.Having started his career in industry with Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. in 1970, his quest for knowledge motivated him back to school to learn and research at IIM Ahmedabad. After acquiring FPM degree, which is equivalent to Ph.D., he joined Bank of Baroda in 1980 which he left in 1986 to become professor and Dean at IIM Lucknow. Later in 2004, he became the Director in IIM Kozhikode where he has left his stamp on every aspects of the institute, be in its architecture, its infrastructure, academics or more importantly its culture.
He is one of the founders of the Strategic Management Forum (SMF) that was founded in 1997. This has since then maintained its virtual character working for the advancement in the discipline of management in general and strategic management in particular. Post retirement, as a senior citizen, he is active in training and teaching through web applications, which is backed by numerous cases developed by him.
He is not only a teacher, trainer, author, administrator, institute builder, change agent but has become musician and most importantly a benevolent human being. During COVID he setup a low cost oxygen generating plant with cylinder filling capability for small hospitals that has helped in saving many lives.
